Patrols and enforcement

This family of measures consists of visible surveillance performed by special security patrols to deter access to high risk areas, to enforce the law and to intervene when potential incidents are identified.

It is considered a dissuasive family because it is aimed to detect and discourage risky and illegal behaviours. It depends on how the enforcement process is organised and conducted. It may equally involve collaboration with external law enforcement authorities.

Measures in this family may also refer to concepts such as: surveillance personnel, security personnel, security staff, law enforcement, repressive measures, deterrent measures, prosecution, punishment, fine, repression, rail police, security patrol, safety patrol, suicide patrol, platform end guards etc.
